I’ll admit it’s hard to review a single song but in the case of “Icicles” by London’s Low Sun, it’s a 14 minute song. The song is a post rock epic with tons of atmosphere and melody. It has a slow groove that features some great melodic guitar lines which before you know it, you are halfway through the song!
After that, Low Sun picks up the pace and things start to really rock. It goes off in a few directions which shows that this post rock band has a prog side to them. The eventually returns to the original guitar melody, making it a very nice journey!
It’s really a great track but it just makes me wish there was more. I suppose if that’s the downside, it’s a nice problem to have. “Icicles” is a great instrumental that keeps your attention which is key when you have no vocals to do that. I look forward to more from Low Sun! Good stuff!!
