Much like Flicker Rate, Junii is a one man post rock project created by a very young man. Nadav Cohen is 16, and like Spencer Bassett of Flicker Rate, if I didn’t tell you this, you’d never know by listening to “Animated Sun.” This EP is a polished work that shows Cohen is well beyond his years when it comes to making music. The production alone is quite professional.

While the 3 song EP is a mere 13 minutes, not a second is wasted. Now this is not post metal at all but definitely atmospheric post rock. Think of bands like Mogwai or God is an Astronaut or even Cloudkicker and you have the framework for what Junii is all about. Each of the three songs flow really well together and the EP is over before you know it! The titles even form a question when put together. “Do you remember a better time 10 years ago?” Very interesting.

Hopefully, this EP is just a quick introduction to the world of this young man. Forget his age, forget whatever preconceived notions you might have. “Animated Sun” is an EP any post rock band would like to claim. Here’s hoping there’s more where this came from!
