“The Quest For A Morning Star” isn’t a “typical” album for a few reasons. First off, it’s a benefit album whose profits will be entirely donated to the victims of the October 30th arson in Bucharest, Romania, where 60 metal fans died while attending a concert by local band Goodbye to Gravity.
Well respected artist and guitarist Costin Chioreanu spearheaded the project and called on his friends to assist him. David Tibet (CURRENT 93), Rune Eriksen “Blasphemer” (ex-Mayhem guitarist), Attila Csihar (Mayhem) and Mirai Kawashima (from SIGH) all make an appearance on “The Quest For A Morning Star.”
Musically, the album is a movie-less soundtrack. While I really love music that is cinematic, I am never one to listen to a movie soundtrack score. This album is far from the typical soundtrack of course. It is dark and very atmospheric which is why I love it. Each song is more like a movement from some dark, eerie symphony.
“The Quest For A Morning Star” is worth buying if nothing else than to help out a great cause. The metal community is always great at taking care of its own and kudos to the very talented Costin Chioreanu for proving that we metalheads are good people and do care for each other.
