Mexico’s Bloodlash are talented musicians. Of course, playing technical metal means you really need to be talented or your music will sound like shit. And on the surface, their EP “Rain” sounds good. The music is good, the singing is good.
But that’s really it. It’s just good. The issue is that the songs aren’t really strong enough or developed enough for me. And one of them, “Thunderborn,” is an absolute dud.
Plus, the band aren’t really prog either. There are hints of it here and there. But for the most part, it’s fairly straight ahead metal. The last track is a mellow acoustic piece which is decent but a bit boring. It’s just an EP and this is a young band that has time to develop.
