EMERGENCE IS DUE FOR RELEASE ON 4TH SEPTEMBER 2015

“Dark and muscular prog heaviness from one of the UK’s most idiosyncratic rock bands” Metal Hammer

(Cardiff, 24th August 2015) Godsticks, the progressive heavy rock band from Wales, will release their third full-length studio album Emergence on September 4th.  Today the band has published a 10 minute ‘making-of’ documentary, filmed and edited by Chris Vinnicombe, during recording sessions that took place in November 2014.

The band headed into Monnow Valley Studios for a week in November to lay down bass and drum tracks, then later decamped to producer James Loughrey’s studio in Kent to work on guitar and vocal tracks.  During the recording process, bassist Dan Nelson and drummer Steve Roberts took some time out to discuss the sounds used for the new album and the heavier direction that the band’s sound was taking, with guitarist and vocalist Darran Charles adding his thoughts on Emergence and the experience of working with James Loughrey.

Check out the result here, which includes footage from studio performances and clips of several tracks from the new album: https://youtu.be/8Igv4jEst2o

Emergence

Emergence is the third full-length studio album from Godsticks.  Never a band to play things safe, Emergence signifies a milestone in the progression of the band from complex crossover progressive music to a more focused heavier style.

Following in the footsteps of 2012’s The Envisage Conundrum, the band continue to explore the heavier side of their musical style and have created a work that includes more concise songwriting filled with addictive grooves and memorable choruses.  However, there is plenty of signature Godsticks style throughout the new album.

From the thundering anthem “Below The Belt” through to the heavy rock crescendos of “One Percent” and “Much Sinister”, to the scorching guitar riffs of album’s title track, Emergence is a high energy album representative of a band that continues to push forward and explore new territory.
